Low Fat Chocolate Brownies








This chocolate brownie recipie is a low fat version of a well-loved classic. A simple to make source of indulgence to treat yourself with every once in a while. Everyone loves chocolate gooey brownies and these could be a great alternative for the whole family to a treat loaded with fat. Do your kids whine that you don't give them anything nice for lunch? Well, pop one of these in your kid's lunchbox (or your's!) Omit the pre-packaged store-bought treat that's probably high in fat or high in sugar, and generally not that tasty, with this yummy home-made goodie.

This recipie just exchanges the fat for applesauce - leaving the brownies nice and moist.

Low Fat Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1/2 cup applesauce
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup white sugar (or Splenda)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

1. Combine applesauce, egg whites, chocolate syrup and sugar.
2. Add flour, cocoa and baking powder.
3. Mix until batter is smooth.
4. Pour batter into a 13 x 9 inch pan (LIGHTLY greased)
5. Bake 20 - 25 mins (until toothpick or knife inserted comes out clean).
6. Cool and cut into 16 squares.
